But seriously why not? I mean 2023 is pretty much over and 2024 is quite literally right around the corner waiting for you. As I was writing this blog post I was doing my best to avoid sounding too cliché by discussing “2024 New Year's Resolutions.” Which is why I want to tell you that according to U.S News, approximately 80% of resolutions fail by the second week of February. Then when you compare that number to the 323.1 million people living in the United States as of 2016 that means 258.41 million people will drop out of the race.
Now listen, I’m not giving you these numbers to discourage you, trust me on that one. But rather I’m here to encourage you and insist that you take your health seriously. You’re only given one body (unless you have a cloning machine) and it’s really important to take care of it. In a world where you have so many options when it comes to food I know full well it can be difficult to stay on a healthy course. But I’m here to tell you that it’s possible to achieve a healthier way of living if you’re willing to put in the effort.
What did people say in 1969 when Neil Armstrong said “I want to go to the moon.” They said “that will never happen” or “you’re crazy and good luck with that.” If we can successfully send a man to the moon then why can’t we achieve a better way of living? Now I know that both of these tasks are difficult and challenging in their own respect. I haven’t a clue about anything related to astronomy, rocket science or electrical engineering so I can’t speak to any space missions.
However, I can speak to living a healthier lifestyle by saying that it will test your willpower, your self-control and mental fortitude. But if you are willing to put in the effort, time and resources then mark my words, you will reap what you sow. Think of it like this, your body is a computer and uses an operating system (Mac or PC) which you’ve been using all your life. When you switch to keto, you are essentially uninstalling the previous operating system and installing another. But here is the funny part, you’ve always had that “Keto Operating System” and you are simply pulling it out of the archive. Then as we all know, whenever you are installing new software on a computer or phone it can take a while to install.
We have to sit patiently while it loads or distract ourselves by doing something else. Your body isn’t a Lamborghini so be patient with it and let it adjust to the new “software.” If you do find your operating system to have “bugs” then I highly encourage you to seek a medical professional to help assess the situation.
I’ll close by saying this, the year isn't over yet so get out there and make tomorrow your today!
