Oh yes, change. The winds of change, spare change, changing diapers, these are all forms of change! Although quite honestly I do hope that I won’t have to be changing any diapers in the next few years (shoutout to all you Moms and Dads). You’re probably wondering where am I going with all this change talk? Well, if you’ve been keto for a week, a month, or even a year, then you’ve probably seen some changes in one form or another.
Change could come in the form of weight loss and then all of a sudden your clothes don’t fit! Now if you ask me that’s some pretty good change! Aside from the fact that you might have to go buy some new clothes but hey that’s a positive side effect in my book. Another form of change might be that you might feel fuller a lot quicker than you used to! This might result in you buying less food which in turns saves you money and allows you to buy clothes that fit you! See what I did there?
But I’m sure the biggest change of all is going to come in your diet. Those fries you used to eat with your burger? Those are gonna have to go in exchange for a side salad, but hey think about all the positive change you’ve experienced! Then on top of that you feel fuller, have increased energy levels and sleep better at night. You see change isn’t all that bad, you just have to have a positive outlook when the change does occur.
Now while I do talk about the good change sometimes there is bad change. You might be in a transitional period between jobs (been there, just did that). Or you are moving your family from one state to another which can be tough on everyone. With these types of change I have one thing to say. There is nobody out there in the world that hasn’t gone through exactly what you are right now.
Sometimes you gotta push through the tough times because they make you appreciate the good times even more. Life isn’t meant to be easy, it’s going to throw some curveballs at you sometimes in the form of change and you’ll have to adapt. It’s like my buddy Forrest Gump famously said, “shit happens.” Even though Forrest went through some shit he came out in the end all good and helped others along the way.
I like to think of change like an oven when you’re baking, the cake symbolizes your life in a sense. Sometimes the change can give you a really great tasting cake, but other times it might leave you with a burnt piece of bleh. The only thing we can really control with change is the temperature which represents how much or little we’re willing to change. Now that I mention it, I think that my “oven” might be broken.
I guess what I’m trying to do is explain change in cooking terms. I hope that I was able to draw a parallel there if there is one. Just remember that change can be good and sometimes change can be bad, but regardless of what the change gives you, it’s up to you to make the best out of every situation.
