Merry Christmess!
Wait I spelled that wrong...or did I? Well let me put it this way, for some, the holidays can be an extremely difficult time to stay on track. The cookies, cake, candy canes and chocolate make it so easy to cheat (stay away from my recipes this month if you get tempted). Well I’m here to remind you that although December is the last month of the year it’s also the finish line. All of the work that you put in over the course of the entire year comes down to one month and the pressure is on to finish strong.
Those 2017 goals that you made way back in January are counting on you to complete them and I’m confident that you’ll achieve them! For some of you, maybe those goals were crushed in September or October and to those individuals I salute you. Remember that December can also be a great time evaluate your 2017 goals and start drafting up some 2018 targets. Was there one goal in particular that eluded you in 2017? Well why not mark it down on the 2018 goals list and start preparing for it both mentally and physically.
Personally for me one of my big goals was to compete in a 5K race. I remember marking it down on the list early on in January. However, life got in the way and January turned into February, March into April and so on. I finally made the commitment to myself in early October to sign up for one that was set to occur by the month’s end. I’m happy to report that I ran the race, finished it and didn’t pass out on the ground after I crossed the finish line! Since then I have raised the stakes and committed to running another before 2017 is over.
The point is to stay focused and finish your race strong as we close out the year. It’s a great time to reflect and see all of the fantastic things you achieved. Someday you’ll look back on all of the blood, sweat and tears that you shed and just laugh.
I really like the movie Kung Fu Panda so I’m going to drop this quote right here.
